Ginger
Ginger is used predominately in spice, food and drink, and the wellness industry. Currently, only a very small portion of Sierra Leone’s ginger is exported, but until the 1970s Sierra Leone was one of  West Africa’s largest ginger producers, exporting some 2,000 tons per year.
Ginger cultivation has a long tradition in Sierra Leone, as the spice is being used as a spice for local dishes or gives its unique flavor to the tasty local ginger drinks. SLPMC is seeking to bring the rich ginger culture from the smallholder farmers in Sierra Leone to the tables of the world.
